Coaches

Scott Jones, M.S.

Scott started Becoming Ultra to bridge the gap between athletes doing amazing things and the rest of us. There are so many runners that have experienced the joy of training for big things and getting them done and he wanted to bring that to the masses.

The mission is to bring entertaining content and education to the world of running and to continue to coach runners with big goals as he has for the last 20 years! You can listen to him on the Becoming Ultra podcast as a host and coach, find him interviewing other types of athletes and adventurers on Athlete On Fire, or putting on retreats and training camps all over the world.

He currently lives in the high country of Colorado at 8800’ with his wife Lauren, and two boys, Wyatt and West. And yes, there is a good chance the youngest one can beat you up the mountain!

She enjoys working with all levels of athletes in improving running mechanics, speed and climbing ability with a particular interest in injury prone runners, runners interested in injury prevention, runners returning postpartum and beginning Ultra Runners/ Marathoners. She is an Ultrarunner, Ironman, Marathoner x 10 and a momma of two.

Sydney Nagy

Sydney is our newest coach for the Becoming Ultra platform.

Sydney grew up running track and cross country in Michigan. She went on to try a couple of road marathons, but it wasn’t quite filling the cup. She relocated to the higher mountains of Southern Utah, where she now lives and breathes the trails of the Dixie National Forest. Sydney is a UESCA certified run coach with two road marathons, two trail marathons, and five trail ultras under her belt with more to come.

Sydney’s increasing interest in the mental side of training is more than likely rooted in having a psychology degree and being a yoga instructor. She understands the difficulty of us ordinary people doing our best to accomplish hard things, but has also experienced the many positives the journey brings out in us. Sydney is extremely motivated to help others experience the same.
