what is included with the BE Ultra Group Coaching?
monthly Group Call
Once per month your coaches will be hosting a live video call. Each call will have a 15-20 minute presentation on a coaching concept for new AND experienced ultra runners. After the presentation we will leave up to an hour for you to ask anything. It could be about the topic discussed or for personal coaching questions. The goal is to educate every month as well as learn from each other as we know so many runners will have very similar questions about their training!
The Calls:
Month 1:
Getting started: On this call we will be talking about how to build a strong base without rushing into volume that could potentially create setbacks like burnout and injury. We will also give some basics on how to self coach your running plan and other considerations for the group coaching format!
Month 2:
Gear chat: What kind of shoes? Do I need an anti-chafing product? What is the best pack for me? Answers and best practices for all of the most common gear questions~
Month 3:
Strength/mobility/core: On this call we talk about how to implement best practices for strength, mobility, and core work. The idea that all we need to do is run is a fun idea but for longevity, injury prevention, and recovery we know how important strength training is for athletes. We will talk about specific sets and principles you can implement right away.
Month 4:
Speed work: On this call we will define speed work for the ultra runner and distance runner alike. We will talk basic principles and give you 5-8 sets you can plug into to your training right away!
Month 5:
Fueling 101: Part science and part art, on this call we will talk about best practices when it comes to fueling your longer efforts. From anecdotal storytelling to tried and true methods our goal for this call is to give you a framework to use as a fueling plan for you individually.
Month 6:
Race mindset and strategy: On this call we will talk about setting expectations for your upcoming race and how to manage the day. Setting realistic and flexible goals based on where you are and not always where you want to be will make racing so much more rewarding and enjoyable!

Other details, FAQ’s…
What exactly is the service again?
This is the Be Ultra Group Coaching platform we are rolling out for 2023. Coaches Scott Jones, Hillary Allen, and Amanda Basham will be taking on the role of educators to motivate, teach, and inspire runners for their 2023 ultra running goals. Ideally, you want to train for our features race, the Wy’east Wonder in Oregon on June 24th with Go Beyond Racing. If that doesn’t work it’s all good as the training isn’t really race specific!
What is unique about BE Ultra Group Coaching?
There is a community built in to the coaching, the content, and Team BU. Other runners with similar goals will be bouncing ideas around and supporting each other from all angles and our goal is to have big groups of runners train for the same event and go out and support each other on the trails!
Who will be my coach?
The founder of Becoming Ultra and longtime coach, Scott Jones, as well as Becoming Ultra featured coaches and amazing runners Amanda Basham and Hillary Allen. The curriculum is completely unique to the platform and the coaches all have unique skill sets to match your goals and ambitions as runners!
How long does the service last?
Six months. From January 9th through the end of June. This program is perfect for anyone with the goal of a summer ultra (anything over 50k)
Do I get a running and training program to follow?
We have all of the assets you need to self train from training templates to strength training, mobility, and core. Our Monthly calls and weekly check ins will answer most questions you’ll have regarding specific training!
Who shouldn’t apply?
This is going to push you outside your comfort zone physically and mentally. If you aren’t comfortable trying new things and being bold, we doubt this is for you.
Why is the price so low?
It really is by the way. The Be Ultra Group Coaching is only $90/month! Simply, we want to help as many runners reach their goals and one on one coaching isn’t the only way! If you would like to pay for the 6 months in advance you’ll see an option on the registration to do so with a discount!
Okay, I am ready to do this, what now?
Well, all you have to do now is register here!
The Coaches
The coaches are all lifelong athletes and have over 40 years combined of coaching under their belts. They all have very similar coaching philosophies and love working together! You’ll notice once ya sign up!
About Scott: He has probably done more V02 max tests on athletes than any podcaster in history and is still proud to be in the industry he loves and studied for at Marshall University over 16 years ago with his M.S. in exercise science. He met his wife on the highest chairlift in North America and has been adventuring with her ever since. He now resides with his family at 8800’ above sea level in Bailey, CO with his wife and two boys, some chickens, dogs, cats, and whatever big critters they run into on the trails. He founded Becoming Ultra 7 years ago to inspire more people to do big things!
